Camp Pike Map 1917.JPG

Between 1917 to the late 1920s, a total of 32 different businesses opened in Belmont.

The exact location of the train depot and post office are still unknown.

This Camp Pike map from 1917 shows the road system of Belmont. Most of the businesses were located right outside the front gate.

Hotel Belmont

A refitting of the Catholic Orphanage for hospitality service created the Hotel Belmont. A hotel for military officers and their families was the social hub of Belmont. The hotel boasted an auto garage and stables for horses and carriages, as well as close access to the Missouri Pacific Railroad station. Rooms could be rented daily, monthly, or weekly at competitive rates with similar luxury stays in Little Rock.

The Halt Place.JPG

The only indication for the location of The Halt Place is a sign on the rear of a building. It was situated close to other cafes and candy stores.

This unidentified business sits across the street from the U.S. Cafe and the Halt Place. Advertisements for "Bevo" can be seen above doors and windows.

The small tent's mailbox lets us know that it was a photo studio. Soldier's families appreciated having photographs of their loved ones, and a photo postcard was the perfect way to write home!
